35 injured as three coaches of Chennai-Mangalore Express derail in Tamil Nadu

Madurai: At least 35 passengers were injured when three coaches of No 16859 Chennai – Mangalore Express train derailed near Puvanur station, a few kilometres from Vriddhachalam, in Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Friday.

The accident happened around 2 am.

Railway officials and fire and rescue services personnel rushed to the spot and rescue operations were carried out. The injured were admitted to Government Hospital at Vriddhachalam.
