Report: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh marries TV anchor Amrita Rai

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh married TV anchor Amrita Rai in Chennai late last month, reported Indian Express quoting sources.

The ex-CM of Madhya Pradesh is in US at present and Amrita Rai was unavailable for comment, according to Indian Express.

Last year, in April Digvijaya Singh had accepted his relationship with TV anchor Amrita Rai.

“I have no hesitation in accepting my relationship with Amrita Rai. She and her husband have already filed a mutual consent divorce case,” the former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh had tweeted.

“Once that is decided we would formalize it. But I do condemn encroachment in our private life,” the Congress general secretary had said after media reports about their relationship appeared.

Singh’s wife Asha passed away in 2013 after prolonged illness. He has four daughters and a son from his first marriage.
