Texas special education teacher arrested after allegedly having a relationship with a student
A Texas special education teacher at an all-boys middle school has been arrested for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student, school officials said.
Rebecca Goerdel, 28, was arrested Friday after Grand Prairie district officials learned on March 10 that she was allegedly having a relationship with a student, the district said in a Twitter post.
Goerdel was a special education teacher at the Young Men’s Leadership Academy at Kennedy Middle School. It was not immediately known if the victim was in her class.
She was removed from the classroom following the allegations. School officials informed law enforcement that same afternoon and launched an investigation that led to her arrest, the district said.
