IISc Bangalore best university in India
The Bengaluru-based Indian Institute of Science (IISc) bagged the top position in the top 100 university ranking released by the centre today. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras came in a close second.
Despite political controversies, Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was ranked as high as number six and Jadavpur Universty was ranked at number 12 in the university rankings announced by the Union human resource development ministry (MHRD) today.
“JNU and Jadavpur University didn’t get rankings for Afzal Guru or anti-India slogans but for the good work done by students,” HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said after releasing the list.
The ranking of 100 institutes was conducted by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) which comes under the MHRD. lncluding IISc, eight institutes from Karnataka found a place among the top 100.
