School girl punished, made to stand in front of boy’s toilet for not wearing uniform

A school girl was forced to stand before a boy’s toilet at a private school at BHEL in Ramchandrapuram mandal on Saturday. The incident, which came to light on Monday, occurred at Rao’s High School.

According to the District Education Officer I. Vijaya Kumari, the teacher punished the student despite a note that her parents sent in the diary. They had requested that she be exempted from wearing the uniform for the day as the dress was wet.

The girl, on returning home, reported the incident to her parents, who visited the school and questioned the teachers and management. Her relatives also reportedly damaged the furniture at school.

The DEO then visited the school as irate parents and others confronted the school management over the incident and demanded stern action against those responsible.

Minister for Information Technology K.T. Rama Rao responded to the incident on his Twitter handle and urged Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari to respond and act against those responsible.
