Tamil Nadu man sold bombs to target L K Advani
Chennai: The vice-president of Pudukudi village panchayat in Tirunelveli, arrested by Karnataka Police officers on Monday in connection with the 2013 blast near the BJP office in Malleswaram, Bengaluru, had close connections with subversive elements and sleeper cells of terrorist organisation Al Ummah in Tamil Nadu, investigators revealed on Tuesday.
He also supplied them explosives on at least three occasions. The investigators said Daniel Prakash (35) had supplied Al Ummah terrorists with explosives in 2011 that they used to target BJP veteran L K Advani by planting a bomb beneath a bridge in Alampatti village, 30km from Madurai.
Police found the powerful pipe bomb and defused it on October 27, 2011. Central crime branch assistant commissioner Venkatesh Prasanna said Prakash also sourced the explosives that the terrorists had used to set off a blast in Tirunelveli in 2012.
