Drought declared in 23 more mandals in Andhra Pradesh
The state government added 23 more mandals to the drought-affected list in the state, taking the total number to 268. It may be recalled that on October 21, the government declared drought in 245 mandals from seven districts of the state.
In a government order (MS 10) released late on Saturday night, the commissioner of disaster management department K Dhananjaya Reddy said that the 23 mandals are from Prakasam district.
The district collector of Prakasam has submitted proposals for additional 33 mandals for declaration as drought affected during south west monsoon, 2016. The committee constituted to examine the proposals has met on November 9 and scrutinised the proposals and recommended addition of 23 more mandals to the drought affected list, he said.
