AIADMK sacks Rajya Sabha MP Sasikala Pushpa for slapping DMK leader
The AIADMK today expelled its Rajya Sabha MP Sasikala Pushpa from the party for slapping a leader from the rival DMK. Meanwhile, Pushpa broke down in Parliament today, claiming threat to her life.
In a brief statement, Jayalalithaa said that Pushpa was eing expelled from all party posts, including primary embership, as she had acted in violation of the party rinciples and ethics.
“Her behaviour has brought great disrepute to the party,” she said. Jayalalithaa asked party supporters not to have any truck enceforth with the Thoothukudi based Rajya Sabha MP.
Pushpa had allegedly attacked DMK’s Rajya Sabha MP Trichy Siva at the Delhi airport on Saturday for criticising Jayalalithaa.
“I need protection. I don’t have safety in Tamil Nadu. There is a threat for my life,” Pushpa said in Rajya Sabha, adding that she is “being compelled” to resign from her constitutional post.
“I will not do it,” she said. “If an MP is slapped by a leader, then what is this? We should have human dignity,” she added.
