AP government offers Group II job offer to Olympian E.Rajani

Andhra Pradesh State Government has offered Group II post and Rs.25 lakh purse to Olympian E.Rajani who was finding it difficult to make both the ends meet with the present ticket collector’s job at Mumbai.

Rajani represented India as the second goal keeper of the Indian Hockey team at the quadrennial Games. The Chittoor girl said she got half-pay while she was practicing at national camps and the meagre amount was not sufficient to take care of herself and her family.

She said she would be preparing for the Asian championship in Thailand in October. The training at Bengaluru for eight months on latest astroturf helped us perform better at all the qualifying tournaments and the Olympics, she said.

In an inspiring message to youngsters to dream big and work hard at a National Sports Day function organized at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here, in which hundreds of athletes, skaters, hockey players, coaches and administrators who took part in a rally from the stadium to Benz Circle.
