Delhi court sentences Mahmood Farooqui to seven years of imprisonment
The hearing on the rape case of an American scholar concluded a day ago with the Delhi court sentencing the accused, filmmaker Mahmood Farooqui to a rigorous seven year imprisonment. Prior to this, the court had already passed a judgement proving that Mahmood is guilty of the crime.
An American scholar who was in the country for research accused Mahmood Farooqui of rape after he invited her for dinner at his residence in South Delhi. It is being said that a drunk Mahmood forced himself upon her, after which charges under Section 376 (rape) were pressed against the filmmaker. Mahmood Farooqui was the co-director of the film Peepli Live.
