HIP-NOSIS is back with a bang!!! After a year long break, Payal’s Dance Academy now brings to you a massive festival dedicated to Belly dance enthusiasts.

HIP-NOSIS is bringing some big names in the industry this year and oh, what a crazy festival its gonna be!

ARTISTS:

AZIZA (USA/ Canada)- Aziza of Montreal, formerly Portland, fell in love with dance at the ripe age of 3. She continued to experiment with many styles and develop her skills as a classical dancer until she found her true love, the art of Middle Eastern Dance over two decades ago. Her devotion to and passion for the art has led to numerous awards and recognitions. Aziza is now one of the brightest, most in demand stars of belly dance in the world today, known for her amazing ability to communicate the music by mixing the best of classical Middle Eastern dance with her own innovative twist!

Aziza’s amazing improvisational skills and her unparalleled ability to inspire students to get to the next level make her the master artist and mentor audiences and students find memorable. A sought after instructor but also a lifetime learner, Aziza continues to perform, teach and learn from students of all levels and audiences throughout South America, Asia, Europe, the United States and Canada.

AZAD KAAN (Turkey/ Germany)- A.K. is a prof. graduate dancer, pedagogue of dance and choreographer for contemporary and oriental dance arts from Turkey.

As a passionate choreographer, full of spirit and warm aura, A.K. is the number one address for many dancers and students from all over the world one of the for learning special and unique choreographies to present them worldwide on festivals and make gigantic and unforgettable shows. Connecting movements fluently, transmitting the steps emotionally and being reminded dreamy are his special emphasis of his works.

His movement repertoire covers a really huge spectrum of elements from jazz dance, modern dance, classical ballet, Latino dance, Flamenco, Hip Hop and Yoga. He has toured Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, whole Republic of Slovakia, Russia, Turkey, Finnland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Tunesia, Marrocco, Israel, Republic of China, Latvia, Sweden, France, Lithuania, Canada and Alaska to teach and perform and is now making his way to India. He is the “Turkish delight” of the oriental dance scene in the whole world.

ISSAM HOUSHAN (Syria/ USA) – Issam Houshan is one of the rarest of talents as that is exactly what he does, Call him the Wassan Pharaoun, King Of The Drum, or Mr. Magic Fingers and you only tell the half of it. It’s his connection to the dancer that is the essence of his magic. Issam is now recognized as the ultimate master of this art. In the BDSS Issam has become a mentor, partner, and inspiration giving selflessly to the good of the troupe as a whole.

Issam had formal music training in the Damascus Academy of Music and went on to drum for a host of Arab music stars and famous bellydancers. He is also the only remaining disciple of the legendary Arab drum master Mahmood Salahadeen. In the U.S. he performed with Sting on the Grammy’s and with the BELLYDANCE SUPERSTARS in over879 shows in 20 countries. Issam’s background, training and experience have made him in huge demand for drum tutorials and workshops. He does these both on his own and in conjunction with bellydance instructors especially Jillina,Sonia,Amar Gamal,Bozenka,Aziza,Rachel Brice,Sharon Kihara,Kami Little,Zoe Jacks,..and more.

1. Oriental -Raks sharqi, Saidi, Baladi, Tarab (appropriate props allowed)
2. Fusion -Tribal fusion, ATS, urban fusion, fantasy fusion (props allowed)
CATEGORIES- Solo & group (2 or more) in both disciplines.

• Festival participants from outside of Bangalore can avail discounted prices for stay at hotels closest to the festival venue. However, cheaper accommodation facility in the Payal’s Dance Academy studio is also available. Contact us for further details.
• Belly Dance troupes of various dance schools can avail the opportunity of performing in the Galas.
• Solo and Duet dancers can perform in the Hafla.
• Participants interested in taking private lessons from any of the teachers in the festival must register well in advance to book the slot.
