Google Maps update for Android brings Wi-Fi-only mode, SD card support
Google has started rolling out an update for its Maps app on Android . The update brings SD card support and ‘Wi-Fi only’ mode to Google’s navigation app.
Thanks to the latest update, users will now be able to easily navigate long stretches of roads while still saving on device storage and data.
The update adds a new ‘ Wi-Fi Only’ option in the Settings Menu, which replaces the ‘Offline Areas’ option. When the option is enabled, the app will stop using cellular data and load majority of the navigation data through Wi-Fi.
The Wi-Fi mode looks like a handy option that can save on your mobile data charges when you are on the go. Along with this, the update also adds the ability for users to download offline areas to an SD card and save the internal storage on your phone.
