Kohli, Rahane, Ashwin dedicate series win to victims of Chennai floods
“I would like to dedicate this victory to the victims of the Chennai floods,” Virat Kohli said in his post-match press conference. “It has been an unfortunate few weeks. My thoughts go out to all the people who have lost their family members.”
“For few of our players also, their families were stuck in one place for a very long time. For them to come out to play with the same kind of character is commendable. So yeah, we would like to dedicate this victory to them and I hope it brings some joy to them,” the Indian skipper said.
Ajinkya Rahane, the twin centurion who was named Man of the Match, dedicated his award to the people of Chennai and the Indian army for their efforts in the rescue operations.
“I would like to dedicate this to the people in Chennai who are suffering from the floods and the Indian army who is helping out, this one is for them,” Rahane said in the presentation ceremony.
Ravichadran Ashwin, who hails from Chennai, also paid his tribute to the city that has had to go through a lot of hardships recently, and dedicated his Man of the Series award to the people.
