Racer Ashwin Sundar, wife killed in car crash fire

Former national racing champion Ashwin Sundar and his wife Niveditha were killed when the car in which they travelling caught fire after ramming into a tree at MRC Nagar in Chennai’s Raja Annamalai Puram area.

The accident occurred at around 3.30 a.m. when the couple were proceeding in a BMW car from MRC Nagar towards Porur. The car was reportedly overspeeding on Kamarajar Road. Suddenly it lost control and hit a tree near Ambedkar Memorial and caught fire. Mr. Sundar and his wife were charred to death inside the vehicle, police sources said.

The Fire and Rescue personnel rushed to the spot and put out fire. Adyar Traffic Police have the recovered the bodies Further investigations are on.

The burning of the car was streamed live on Facebook which instantly went viral on social media.

Police officials claimed that the racer’s over speeding was the reason behind the crash.
