Railway Institute building inaugurated in Salem
The new Railway Institute building for the benefit of the employees of Salem Railway Division was declared open by Shubhranshu, Divisional Railway Manager, here on Saturday.
The new facility is situated in the West Railway Colony behind the Salem Junction and the project has been executed at an outlay of Rs. 96.26 lakh.
The new premises can accommodate about 500 persons at a time.
It has also facilities to hold official functions such as meetings, conferences, etc. that can be used for ceremonial occasions/family functions such as marriage, etc., of the railway employees.
The Utility Hall of the institute can be booked for functions by general public also on payment basis, for which the rates will be fixed soon, official sources said.
However, priority will be given to the railway employees and the rates will be concessional for them.
The Division has proposed to construct a separate kitchen area, dining area and a garden in the future, the sources said.
