T.T.V. Dhinakaran launches Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam
Sidelined AIADMK leader and R.K. Nagar MLA T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Thursday announced his new political party – Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK).
At a public meeting organised at Melur, near Madurai, Mr. Dhinakaran also introduced the party flag that has black, white and red stripes and an image of former Chief Minister and AIADMK former general secretary Jayalalithaa at the centre.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Dhinakaran said the new party was launched to ”retrieve” the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol and the AIADMK from the hands of ‘betrayers’.
The AMMK would contest all the elections — from polls to cooperative societies to local bodies, from Assembly elections to Lok Sabha polls — with the party’s “cooker” symbol and win them, he claimed.
The party was launched as party cadres faced many difficulties in getting permission from the government to organise meetings in the last four months, he said.
“Now the 1.5 crore cadres [of the AIADMK] will function under the new banner and retrieve the party’s [AIADMK’s] victory symbol of ‘Two leaves’ and the AIADMK from the betrayers,” he said.
