Tamil Nadu hikes the salary of MLAs to ₹1,05,000

The Tamil Nadu government has decided to hike the salary of MLAs from ₹55,000 to ₹1,05,000, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

The revised salary comes to effect from July 1, 2017. The decision brought an immediate cheer to MLAs across party lines.

The Chief Minister also announced that the local area development fund for MLas will be increased to ₹2,50,000.
