Telangana CM KCR proposes exclusive industrial estate, IT corridor for Muslims in state

After pushing a Muslim reservation quota of 12 per cent, the Telangana government has decided to develop an industrial estate and information technology (IT) corridor exclusively for Muslims in the state.

On Monday, after a review meeting at Pragati Bhawan, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced loans up to 100 per cent, subsidized loan of Rs 2.50 lac for Muslim youth, a 10 per cent quota in government’s flagship 2BHK scheme, apart from assuring additional quota in all welfare schemes run by the government.

He also assured that the state government will conduct all entrance and recruitment exams in Urdu apart from English and Telugu language.

In April last year, the assembly and the councils of the state passed a bill increasing the reservations for Muslims from four to 12 per cent for in educational institutions and the state services. The bill has been sent to the Center for further process.

Telangana has a 12.7 per cent Muslim population. CM KCR has assured that Telangana will follow the Tamil Nadu model of reservation, where a 69 per cent reservation is in place.

The government has also decided to construct Hyderabad International Islamic Cultural Convention Centre on a 10-acre plot, and also develop historic monument Charminar and its surrounding like Golden Temple of Amritsar.

The meeting was attended by Deputy CM Mahmood Ali, Finance Minister E Rajender, UD/IT minister KT Ramarao, apart from AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and MIM Assembly floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.

Opposition Bhartiya Janta Party came down heavily on KCR and his Telangana Rastra Samiti Government for this step.

Meanwhile, MP Asaduddin Owaisi praised KCR and said, ”This TRS government headed by KCR @TelanganaCMO is a TEZ govt within 2 hours of KCR assurance GO.”
