Woman falls from crowded local train, dies

Overcrowding of local trains claimed yet another life on Wednesday after a 27-year-old woman died after falling from an overcrowded local train between Chunabhatti and GTB Nagar during peak rush hour.

A teacher at a Wadala-based school, Poonam Tambe was on her way back home in Pratiksha Nagar when she had the fatal fall from the train.

We received information about a woman falling from the train around 8.15 pm on Wednesday. We rushed to the spot and found her lying on the track between Chunabhatti and GTB Nagar on Wednesday, said Satish Pawar, Senior Inspector, Government Railway Police (GRP) Wadala.

While she was immediately rushed to the Sion hospital by officials, she was declared dead on arrival.
