2008 Guj blasts mastermind arrested by Delhi police
A 46-year-old co-founder of Indian Mujahideen (IM) has been arrested by Delhi Police Special Cell on Saturday night. The accused was also an active member of banned terror outfit SIMI.
Abdul Subhan Qureshi alias Tauqeer alias Usman Qureshi alias Wasim, native of Maharashtra, was arrested from East Delhi’s Ghazipur after the police received a tip off on his arrival.
“We had information that he’ll be coming to meet his associate in Ghazipur. This information was further developed and on Saturday night, when he was spotted, he was apprehended,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah.
According to the police, Abdul was the mastermind behind Gujarat blasts in 2008 and is also suspected to be involved in 2006 Mumbai train blasts. He was wanted by several agencies including NIA who had announced a reward of ₹4 lakh on his arrest.
