24 CRPF men killed in encounter with Maoists in Sukma
Twenty-Four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men were killed on Monday in an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, Additional Director General of Police R.K.Vij said.
The encounter took place near Burkapal CRPF camp on Dornapal Jagargunda road of Sukma. Six CRPF men suffered injuries in the encounter and were airlifted from the scene to Raipur. Two out of the six injured jawans are said to be in critical condition. All weapons and complete ammunition of the 12 martyred CRPF men were looted by Maoists.
One of the injured jawans who was brought to Raipur claimed that 300 Maoists were present on the spot and 12 of them were killed in the attack.
The jawans are from the 74th battalion of the CRPF.
