CSA announce itinerary for Bangladesh series
Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Thursday (December 28) released the itinerary for the home series against Bangladesh and also stated they are set to host India and Australia, subject to confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket Australia (CA) respectively.
Bangladesh’s tour will be followed by a long tour by India, in which the No. 1 ranked Test side is scheduled to play four Tests, five ODIs and three T20Is. However, while making the announcement, CA also said the India tour is ‘in the process of being confirmed’.
“Our scheduling discussions with the BCCI are in progress and we hope to be in a position to announce the fixtures for this tour in the New Year,” Haroon Lorgat, chief executive of CSA, said.
Also in the pipeline is the four-match Test series against Australia and CSA is awaiting a confirmation from the Australian cricket board for the same. If everything goes ahead as per plans, Australia’s tour will follow the India series.
“Another bumper season of attractive international cricket awaits our fans,” Lorgat added. “India and Australia finished 2016 as the top teams on the ICC rankings list and this will give our players great incentive to perform at their very best.
“We have not beaten Australia in a home Test series since unity and that surely must be good reason to perform in order to bank a notable first. Our fans can look forward to a really big 2017/18 home season for the Proteas,” he concluded.
