Shreyas Iyer sidelined with chicken pox; to miss initial matches of IPL 10

Delhi Daredevils received a severe blow ahead of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League with Shreyas Iyer getting ruled out of the initial few matches with chicken pox. With two big names Quinton de Kock and JP Duminy already not available, Daredevils’ top order has been weakened now with this latest setback.

Iyer was bought by the franchise in 2015 where he had a breakthrough season by scoring 439 runs in 14 matches. He delivered at the top of the order consistently even though Daredevils failed as a unit. He failed to replicate his heroics last season by scoring only 30 runs in six matches and as a result lost his spot in the eleven.

He has been in blazing form recently in domestic cricket, scoring a century for India A against Bangladesh in a warm-up fixture before notching up a double ton against the visiting Australians. It earned him a spot in the Indian squad for the final Test against Australia in Dharamsala as he was drafted in as cover for Indian captain Virat Kohli.
