Andrew Ellis named domestic player of the year by NZC
Canterbury skipper Andrew Ellis has been named New Zealand Cricket’s (NZC) domestic Player of the Year for the 2016-17 season. This is the second time in three years that the all-rounder has won the award, having led his side to Plunkett Shield and Ford Trophy victories this season.
The 35-year-old had a particularly good time in the Plunkett Shield, topping the batting charts for his side with 652 runs, alongside becoming the second highest-wicket taker with 27 scalps.
