IIT-Tirupati all set to start classes from today
The Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT-T) is all set to start its maiden academic year (2015-16) at a temporary building on Wednesday (August 5).
The opening ceremony will have a formal welcome address, a brief on the nature of the courses offered, rules to be followed by students and the credit system in vogue. Union Minister for Human Resource Development Smriti Irani will address students through video-conference on the occasion.
HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao will personally interact with students on the opening day. IIT-Madras is the mentor agency for the new institution.A three-storey building on the sprawling campus of Krishna Teja Group of Educational Institutions on Renigunta Road has been allocated to IIT-T.
Though work is in progress on the first and second floors of the building, as many as five class rooms and a virtual class room have been readied to cater for 120 students.
“We are bringing some senior faculty members from IIT-Madras to train students here,” K.N. Satyanarayana, Professor-in-charge of IIT-Tirupati said on Monday.
