Sehwag joins Kings XI as mentor
“I am extremely happy to continue my journey with Kings XI Punjab,” said Sehwag after being appointed as mentor. “Given the relationship and camaraderie I share with the squad, management and promoters, it feels like I am with my extended family. Being a part of KXIP has always been a special experience and I am looking forward to the upcoming season in my new role.”
Sanjay Bangar, Kings XI Punjab’s head coach, was understandably elated by Sehwag’s inclusion as a mentor.”Sehwag has been an integral part of the KXIP squad over the last two seasons and understands the dynamics of the team very well. With him stepping in as the mentor, the team will immensely benefit from his guidance and advice,” he said.
Apart from representing Punjab, Sehwag has also played for the Delhi Daredevils. In total, he has scored 2,728 runs in 104 IPL matches, which is the eighth highest in the list of run-getters in the IPL. He scored these runs at a strike rate of 155.44 – more than anyone who has scored at least 1,000 runs in the tournament’s history.
The Delhi dasher, who also has over 17,000 international runs to his credit, is currently playing in the Masters Champions League (MCL).
