Chandravati Pal passes away in road accident
Chandravati Pal, the 40-year-old former Bengal batswoman, passed away in a fatal road accident on Saturday (April 16) morning, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) revealed. The accident took place near Red Road, when Pal was riding pillion on a two-wheeler en route to the Calcutta Parsi Club, where she coaches, a CAB official said.
“She was riding pillion on a two-wheeler when she was hit by a bus from behind near the Red Road. She was taken to hospital in a critical condition and passed away around 9 am,” the CAB official said.
“It’s really unfortunate, I had met her at the CAB a couple of days ago. She was always smiling and never got into an argument,” he added.
Pal batted right-handed in the top order and represented Bengal for 15 years, also featuring for East Zone. Under the support of CAB, Pal was coaching Howrah District, after her two-year stint with the Combined District Team.
“We convey our solace to the bereaved family and pray for eternal peace to her departed soul,” CAB said in a condolence message.
