Katiki Waterfalls
Katiki Waterfalls is named after Katiki, the place where it is located. Katiki Waterfalls originate from the Gosthani River and contains greenery and clear water in its vicinity.
Katiki falls is located between Borra Caves-kasalaka railway stations. The waterfall is about 50 feet high and the water cascades down to a pond at the bottom. It is considered as a beautiful waterfall in Araku Valley when it is as its best. The Katiki Waterfalls is also believed to be named after the mythological figure Kaitiki.
The pond at the bottom of the waterfall is an excellent place for taking a bath after a tough trek to the place. Cooking and camping are also permitted at this place. This is also a good place for trekking.
Cautions:
- Visitors are advised not to venture to the waterfall in their own car as the road is shoddy and impassable otherwise than on jeeps
- The waterfall is open on all days from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm. It is also open on National holidays
- While cooking and camping is allowed in the premises of the waterfall, care should be taken to extinguish the fires when it is not necessary
- Do not litter and plastic bottles should not be carelessly thrown
By Train – you can go and come back to Borra Guhalu railway stop.From here you should go by walk or Auto for 4 km . Shared Auto Charges Rs:100/-.
By Bus – you can reach Borra caves by bus and take a commander jeep(sharing basis) from there. They charge around 250-350 per couple.
The travel from Borra caves to the start of trek is very bumpy and you should be prepared to be tossed around in your seat. Not recommended for elderly and toddlers.
Best time to visit: Aug to Dec is the best season.
