Kerala nurse found murdered in Oman
A pall of gloom descended on Karukutty near Angamaly on Thursday as the news about the brutal murder of Chikku Robert, a nurse in Oman, reached her parents.
Relatives and friends thronged the Thekkayil Airoorkkaran house to console Robert and his wife Saby, parents of the deceased. Chikku, a staff nurse with Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals, Salalah, had been working in the institution for the past three years. Her husband, Linson Thomas, is employed at the same hospital.
The incident came to light after Chikku did not report for her night duty on Wednesday. Linson, who was on duty in the hospital, rushed to the flat around 11 p.m. and found his wife lying dead in a pool of blood.
Sources said that Chikku was three months pregnant and planning to come to her native place after two months.
Relatives of the deceased nurse said Linson’s relatives in Oman had gone to Salalah and they were waiting for more details of the tragedy from them. Chikku’s body is likely to be flown to Kerala on Sunday or Monday after the completion of the legal formalities required in that country. The police in Salalah are reported to have begun a probe into the death and questioned a Pakistani national, who lived next door.
Chikku was the eldest daughter of the Robert-Saby couple. Her younger sister is a student of D.Pharm course in Cherthala.
