Salman Khan named Goodwill Ambassador for India at Rio Olympics
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been roped in as the Goodwill Ambassador for the Indian contingent at the Rio Olympics 2016, starting August 5.
Excited to be associated with India for the mega event, Salman said other sports also need public attention in the cricket-mad nation.
“Other sports don’t get as much of public attention as cricket gets. We need to support other sports,” Salman told India Today.
“I am trying to go there (Rio) in the initial stage. I will try to be present as much as I can,” the actor said.
London Olympics bronze medal-winning boxer MC Mary Kom was happy to have Salman on board. The legendary boxer is yet to qualify for the Games.
“Very happy to have Salman Khan on board. He is a great motivation for us,” Mary Kom said.
