After Kangana refuses to go to police station, cops visit her home
The Cyber Police on Saturday recorded the statement of actor Kangana Ranaut in connection with a complaint filed by actor Hrithik Roshan last year. The statement was recorded at her residence after Ranaut repeatedly refused to come to the police station.
Last year, Mr Roshan had approached the Cyber Police and complained about an unidentified individual who had been impersonating him and was sending emails to Ms Ranaut from an email account created in the actor’s name. Mr Roshan submitted details of his real email account and the fake one.
The police had subsequently registered an FIR for impersonation and cheating under IPC along with relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and initiated investigations.
Over the last three months, the police asked Ms Ranaut several times to come down to the Cyber Police Station in Bandra Kurla Complex to record her statement in connection with the emails, but she refused. On Saturday, after consulting her lawyer, the police sent a team to her Khar residence.
Officials said the team reached Ms Ranaut’s residence around 5 pm on Saturday and left around 8 pm after recording her detailed statement. “We are already in the process of verifying the details and tracing the internet protocol (IP) address from where the emails were sent. We made enquiries with Kangana based on our findings so far,” a police officer said. DCP (Cyber) M Rajkumar could not be reached despite repeated attempts.
Mr Roshan and Ms Ranaut have been embroiled in a bitter battle of words, with both making statements against each other on social media and the press regarding their reported relationship.
