12 JeM men detained with explosives in Delhi

Delhi Police Special Cell has detained a dozen men, all alleged members of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) following separate raids in Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh’s Deoband.

Sources in Delhi Police and Intelligence Bureau (IB) said that a massive quantity of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were also recovered from them and the terror suspects were planning strikes in the Capital. It is learnt that the men were planning a string of blasts in Delhi.

While nine of them were detained in North East Delhi’s Gokalpuri, two others were held at Loni Ghaziabad, while a lone suspect was arrested at Deoband. UP ATS also assisted the Delhi Police’s operation.

It is likely that all of them may now be arrested under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and for criminal conspiracy.

The raids were conducted after inputs from intelligence were received about suspicious activities by “highly radicalised youth” over the past one month. Since the Pathankot attacks, this is the third such anti terror operation conducted by the Cell.
