APCOB Chairman’s wife, driver die in accident in Telangana

Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Bank (APCOB) Chairman and former Minister Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao escaped with minor injuries while his wife Satyavani and their driver Das died when the car they were travelling in turned turtle on Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Tukkuguda of Pahadisharieff on city outskirts on Monday past midnight.

Mr. Rao was initially treated at a near-by hospital and later shifted to a corporate hospital. The accident occurred while they were coming from Vijayawada to Hyderabad. “The rear left wheel came off when the car as apparently at high speed. The car hit the railing and got dragged for over 50 yards,” Pahadisharieff Inspector Chalapathi said on Tuesday. According to him, Mr. Rao wore seat belt and was stuck inside the car even as it overturned while his wife and the driver (who didn’t wear seat belts) were thrown away from the vehicle. They sustained multiple injuries and died instantly.
