Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Ukasha arrested
Security forces on Tuesday described the arrest of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba commander in north Kashmir a “big catch”.
According to a senior police official, LeT commander Abu Ukasha was rounded up when he was walking in Sogam market around 7pm on Monday in Kupwara district’s Lolab area, more than 90 km north of Srinagar.
Working under alias Hanzulla, the LeT commander is from Pakistan, according to the preliminary investigation.
One grenade and around 38 thousand cash was also recovered from him, according to the police.
Immediately after his arrest, a major combing operation was launched in Lolab forests to nab his associates. Sources said exchange of fire was also reported in the area.
