10 CRPF commandos killed in IED blast in Bihar

Ten CRPF commandos belonging to its elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA) battalion were on Monday killed in a Naxal IED blast in the forests of Bihar’s Aurangabad district. Four of the ultras were killed in the encounter which lasted for nearly eight hours.

A combing operation was launched in Aurangabad-Gaya forest areas to nab the naxals who attacked an elite CRPF battalion.

“At least 10 CRPF commandos were killed and three of them were injured in the encounter… a massive manhunt has be been launched by the paramilitary and State police forces in the area to nab the naxals”, said Sunil Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarter).

Meanwhile, doctors have confiirmed that the injured CRPF personnel, who were airlifted and shifted to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment, are ‘out of danger’.

Kundan Krishnan, IG (Operations), along with top district police officials, has been camping in Aurangabad area to monitor the combing operation.

Some arms and ammunition were also recovered from the site. The jawans belonged to the 205th COBRA battalion and were deployed in the State for conducting anti-naxal operations.
