A 33-year-old software engineer, who was engaged to marry in November, allegedly jumped to death from the eighth floor of his office in Bellandur, southeast Bengaluru, on Monday night.
Gulshan Chopra from Punjab, who lived alone in a rented house in HSR layout and worked with Genpact, took the extreme step around midnight. The reason is unknown, as Chopra did not leave behind any suicide note, police said.
According to his colleagues, Chopra, who got engaged in March, usually worked till midnight.
“He was on a week’s leave and returned to work on Monday . Though he looked normal, he was a little disturbed and we thought he might be exhausted after travelling. Around 11.30pm, he went to the bathroom and entered the balcony from where he jumped,” they told police. According to security guards, they heard a thud behind the parking lot and saw a man lying dead.
“Initially, we could not identify the body as it was lying face down. Later, police arrived and identified the body with the help of colleagues,” they added. His family will reach the city by Tuesday night.
“We are checking his laptop and mobile phone for possible mails or messages to ascertain the reason behind his death,” police said.
