Film Nagar under construction collapses killing two injuring more than eight

A three storied under construction building was collapsed at Film Nagar Cultural Centre today evening killing two on the spot and injuring over eight workers.

Sources said that the building was under construction has no permission from GHMC. Police, fire services and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) launched the rescue operation. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also joined the operation.

Congress workers dashed into the Filmnagar club chambers and destroyed furniture. Former Congress MLA K.Lakshma Reddy and Vishnu along with congress leaders were taken into custody by the police. The Congress workers and leaders demanded justice and stringent action on the concerned contractor and Film Nagar club management.

Meanwhile Telangana YSRCP expressed condolences over the incident and demanded payment of Rs.10 lakh to the kin of each of the deceased and improved medical facilities to those injured who are undergoing treatment at Apollo hospital.

GHMC Mayor Bontu Rammohan announced Rs.2 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of those killed in the incident.
