Government planning to send 35,000 invitations for Krishna Pushkarams

According to sources, the State Government is planning to send 35,000 invitations carrying the signature of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for the Krishna Pushkarams.

The Prime Minister, the Governors and the Chief Ministers will be invited to the mega event along with Heads of States and Corporate honchos.

At a review meeting on the arrangements being made for the 12 day river festival on Wednesday, Chandrababu directed the officials to take up steps for sending the invitations at the earliest.

The invitations will be in a letter form and contain details of the programme that are lined up.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Mayor Koneru Sridhar said that 95 per cent of the Pushkaram works have been completed. Speaking to press here on Wednesday, he said that the administration is fully geared up for the 12 day event.

He said that the government granted Rs.186 crore for the Corporation of which Rs.105 crore was earmarked for roads, Rs.40 crore for development of medians, parks, parking lots, CCTV surveillance system and others.

Rs.39 crore for sanitation and illumination works and Rs.2 crore for Pushkar Nagars on the outskirts of the city, he said. He said that they are expecting nearly 3.5 crore pilgrims for the event. Bus services will be provided from Pushkar Nagars to ghats for pilgrims and 400 RTC buses will be operated. A total of 18,000 sanitation workers will be deployed.
