WhatsApp launches video-calling feature for Android users

Android users, the much-awaited video-calling feature on WhatsApp is finally here. Facebook-owned WhatsApp has started rolling out the much-awaited video calling feature to Android users. The latest update is presently available only to official Android beta testers.

Last week, the company had launched the feature for Windows Phone users. As to how it works, to make a video call, users simply need to click on the calling button and choose between ‘Voice’ and ‘Video’ calling options. The feature also allows users to switch from front camera to rear camera as well ‘mute the call’. In addition, users will get notifications in case they miss a call. To call back, they can simply tap on the same menu.

The company has so far not said anything about the feature’s availability for iOS users.
WhatsApp recently rolled out another update for iOS and Android users, which brings the key features of Snapchat and Instagram Stories to the messaging app.

The update allows WhatsApp users to draw and add emojis to an image or a video. Users can also choose any image or video in their smartphone’s library and doodle on it with different brush sizes and font styles, something that has been there on Snapchat and Instagram Stories for a while.

In addition, the WhatsApp for iOS update also lets group admins invite other people to join a group. All they need to do is to tap on the ‘Group Invite link’ in the group info section. Although the Android version also added support for front-facing flash and easy zooming in videos, the WhatsApp for iOS change log does not mention these features so far. The updated app can be downloaded from App Store.
