Supreme Court issues notice to Salman Khan in poaching case

Salman Khan has been issued notice by the honourable Supreme Court on acquittal in Chinkara poaching case. The court has agreed to expedite hearing in the two cases of blackbuck and chinkara poaching.

This was done on an appeal by the Rajasthan government challenging the actor’s acquittal in two poaching cases.

Salman Khan was accused of hunting two Chinkaras at Bhawad in Mathania near Jodhpur on September 26, 1998, and another Chinkara at Ghoda farms two days later on September 28, while he was in Jodhpur.

The High Court had dismissed the charges against the star and not guilty of killing an endangered species. The dismissal was challenged by the State Government. They had contended in October that Salman should be ordered to surrender.

Salman Khan has also been accused of killing a Blackbuck that is a protected species. These incidents took place while the Khan was shooting for his film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ there.
