Alcatel Idol 4 smartphone with VR headset launched in India at Rs 16,999
Alcatel, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Chinese company TCL, has launched its Idol 4 smartphone in India. Priced at Rs 16,999, the smartphone will come in Gold, Metal Silver and Drak Gery colour options. The handset will be exclusively available on Flipkart and will go on sale today at 2PM.
First launched at MWC 2016, the Idol 4 mark the company’s entry into VR segment in India. The device comes with a VR headset for an immersive 360-degree viewing and gaming. The smartphone also features a boom key that gives access to a wide range of functions with the press of a single button.
The boom key on the side allows the user to control camera, gallery, videos, music, games and more. It has dual-speakers that offer a total audio output of 7.2 watts and has Waves MaxxAudio technology. The company has also incorporated JBL stereo headset in the box for better user experience.
Alcatel Idol 4 features a 5.2-inch Full HD display of 1080×1920 pixel resolution. Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, it is powered by an octa-core Qulacomm 617 Snapdragon processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 512GB by installing microSD cards.
The all-new Idol 4 boasts of 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and an 8MP front-facing camera (with flash) for selfies. The device also has a real-time face beautification feature. On connectivity front, it offers 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC, with a 2,610mAh battery rounding off the specsheet.
Last month, Alcatel launched its Idol 4S smartphone in US. The highlight of the Alcatel Idol 4S is that it is the world’s first Windows 10 smartphone with VR headsets support. Alcatel has bundled a VR headset with the device. The smartphone also offers Microsoft Office apps.
