Aley, Haynes, Vakarewa named in Australia Women’s World Cup squad

Sarah Aley and Belinda Vakarewa were the two new faces in the Australia women’s squad for the Women’s World Cup to be held in England.

Australia have won the World Cup a record six times and are also the defending champions.

“This is going to be one of the most tightly contested World Cups in recent times and we have chosen 15 players that we believe are capable of leading Australia to victory,” Shawn Flegler, the national selector, said.

Squad: Meg Lanning (capt), Sarah Aley, Kristen Beams, Alex Blackwell, Nicole Bolton, Ashleigh Gardner, Rachael Haynes, Alyssa Healy, Jess Jonassen, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Belinda Vakarewa, Elyse Villani, Amanda-Jade Wellington.
