Andhra Pradesh CM disburses ₹141.6 crore for ‘Kalyanamasthu’ and ‘Shaadi Tohfa’ programs
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy recently announced financial assistance for the girls belonging to disadvantaged communities in the state. Under the YSR Kalyanamasthu and YSR Shaadi Tohfa schemes, a total of ₹141.60 crore has been released to benefit 18,883 girls who got married between April and June 2023. The amount will be directly credited to the bank accounts of their mothers.
Depositing the amount with the click of a button virtually from the Camp Office here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said the scheme was introduced to help girls from the poor SC, ST, BC, minority communities, construction worker families and the disabled to pursue their education.
The state government has been providing financial assistance to poor parents to perform their daughters’ marriages in a dignified manner, after their education, through schemes. They are being implemented for eligible families from SC,ST,BC, minorities, disabled and construction workers. The state government has so far disbursed 267.20 crore under the schemes in the last nine months and provided relief to nearly 35,551 families.
The state government had brought some changes to the schemes to empower the girl children with basic educational qualifications.
