Big Billion Day sale: Flipkart sends 5 lakh postcards
Chennai: Flipkart is sending half a million postcards to people in small towns to participate in its ‘Big Billion Days’ sale scheduled for next week. The online major is taking the snail mail route to reach its message to places like Jhumri Telaiya in Jharkhand, Barmer in Rajasthan, Buxar in Bihar and Kargil in J&K.
“This one-time exercise is our way of giving a personal touch to the festive season. We wanted to reach out across the length and breadth of the country and invite them to be part of the sale,” said Mausam Bhatt, senior director, marketing, Flipkart. The Big Billion Days offers will be available only on the mobile app.
Last October, Flipkart faced a lot of flak for issues faced by customers during its Big Billion Day sale. Inadequate IT infrastructure led to computer server breakdowns, changes in prices, auto cancellation of orders and unavailability of products.
Flipkart was forced to apologize. But it still sold over 2 million items, and it achieved $100 million in GMV (gross merchandise value) in 10 hours.
