Dera chief claims to have trained Virat Kohli and Vijender Singh!

Chief of Dera Sacha Sauda Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is a convict in a rape case. Quite expectedly, his followers have unleashed violence in Panchkula to protest against the verdict leaving several dead and many injured.

Now, one is inquisitive to get a reaction from Team India skipper Virat Kohli, who is currently busy in national duties in Sri Lanka.

Guess why? Well, Kohli who has toyed with the opposition bowling in all the formats of the game supposedly ‘owed’ his skills to the Dera chief, if the latter’s comments are to be taken seriously.

The Dera chief, speaking at an event in September last year, claimed to be a sports freak having participated in as many as 32 different sports at the national level and had also tried his hands at coaching.

“I have accomplished several feats in my life. As you may have noticed, I am capable of doing so many things. The youngsters whom I have coached are doing well for the nation today.

“There is boxer Vijender Singh who is winning so many medals for the country. Then there is Virat Kohli. I have this video of him with me where he came to me to learn so many things and now he is one of the best in the world,” Rahim claimed in the video uploaded on YouTube.

“He (Virat Kohli) was unable to convert good starts into big scores. I suggested him to practise hard and continue learning,” the Dera Sacha Sauda chief is quoted by Spotboye.com.

“Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan both had come to me, seeking help to strengthen their muscles. Shikhar bola main kahin budha na ho jaun (Shikhar said I hope I don’t get old quickly), help me gain some strength.

“I told Virat that you play very well but after scoring 30-40 runs, you want to pull off a new shot – and that’s where you go wrong. Virat was amazed and shocked that I knew this.

“I advised him that he should practise those shots before getting onto the field and continue with his usual attacking game pattern.

“He was very happy with my advice. He called back to thank me as he moved ahead in his career. Besides him, players like Yusuf Pathan, Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan, Amit Mishra have also visited me for guidance,” the self-styled godman is saying to an audience in the video.
