E-gates for smooth parking at Mysuru palace
Parking for vehicles of tourists visiting the Mysuru palace has been streamlined for hassle-free parking and to prevent fleecing.
Electronic gates had been installed at the palace parking lot near Varaha gate with the Mysuru Palace Board launching the new parking management system.
Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha inaugurated the electronic gates on Friday. M.K. Somashekar, MLA, board director Indiramma, and deputy director T.S. Subramanya were present.
Acting on complaints of glitches in the parking management, the board decided to establish convenient parking facility. Board director Indiramma told The Hindu that the new parking system is on the model of those in malls where a computerised slip is generated with the vehicle number and time of parking.
Parking rates
Parking fee will be different for vehicle type. The parking fee for cars had been fixed at Rs. 30 per hour and Rs. 10 for every extra hour. For buses, the hourly fee is Rs. 60 and Rs. 20 for every extra hour. Likewise, the parking fee for two-wheelers is Rs. 10 and Rs. 5 after an hour; autorickshaws Rs. 15 and Rs. 5 for extra time; mini buses Rs. 40 and Rs. 15 for extra time, and cycles Rs. 5 and Rs. 2 extra time.
Ms. Shikha said the electronic gates had been installed at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh. There are plans to introduce two more gates at the additional parking facility, which is mostly used in the event of extra rush, especially during Dasara festivities.
