Engineering student arrested for hacking Lalu Prasad’s Facebook account
An engineering student was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly hacking the Facebook profile and email account of RJD supremo Laluprasad Yadav. The Facebook profile of Yadav was hacked by the criminals on March 13. An FIR was lodged by his son and deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav with Secretariat police station and sections 419, 420 and 506 of IPC was lodged in the case. Two investigating officers (IO), ASP Nilesh Kumar and inspector Ramashankar Singh of the cyber cell of economic offences unit (EOU) first located that the hacking was committed from mobile phone device and not a desktop or laptop.
IG (EOU) J S Gangwar said, “Cracking a cyber-crime committed by mobile phone device is always a challenge. The officers found out that the hacker had attempted twice on March 8 and 11 to hack the social media profile of Yadav. On the third attempt on March 13, the hacker was succeeded to hack the profile.” He further added that two high-end smartphones were seized from the possession of Divyanshu Kumar alias Golu, 20, a student of engineering of Patna Sahib engineering college. “At first, the IOs discovered that the SIM card of the mobile phone number which was used for hacking the profile was issued to Vijay Kumar Singh who is currently in Saudi Arab. Gradually it was discovered that the SIM card was originally being used by Divyanshu, a native of Vaishali district. We have slapped relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and IT Act against Divyanshu and he was forwarded to jail as well,” said the IG.
According to the officials, Divyanshu has expertise in hacking and creating multiple users technique of the social media pages and profiles. “His personal accounts on social media is flooded with post related to a particular religious sentiments and many could be labeled as anti-national posts. However for now he has been sent to jail related to the profile hacking case of Yadav,” said an officer.
