Former Karnataka cricketer K Sriram passes away, aged 43
K Sriram, the former Karnataka batsman, passed away on Thursday (February 16) following a brief illness. He was 43.
Sriram represented his state in 15 first-class games, scoring 644 runs at an average of 28. His only century came in a memorable first-class debut in Bhadravati, when he scored 174 against Tamil Nadu in a group encounter between the sides during the 1996-97 season.
Sriram was also part of the Anil Kumble led side in the final against Tamil Nadu, as Karnataka clinched the Ranji Trophy title after a gap of 13 years. Incidentally, his older brother, K Srinath, turned out for Tamil Nadu in that title clash. Srinath is a first-class umpire and has officiated in several Indian Premier League and Champions League T20 games.
Sriram is survived by his wife and two children.
