Gulam Bodi banned for 20 years for match-fixing bids
The ban, which will take immediate effect, was announced by Cricket South Africa (CSA) chief executive Haroon Lorgat during the tea interval on the fourth day of the fourth and final Test between South Africa and England at SuperSport Park.
“Our attitude to corruption will always be one of zero tolerance,” said Lorgat.
“There is no doubt that Mr Bodi’s actions have threatened the integrity and image of the game that we love and he must be handed a strong punishment. He accepts the folly of his actions.”
Lorgat added that aspects of the investigation were still ongoing.
Bodi, 37, who played one-day and Twenty20 internationals for South Africa, is banned from being involved in any international or domestic match or any other kind of function.Five of those years are suspended on condition that Bodi commits no further offences.
