Kashmiri Army jawan suspected to have joined terrorist group in J-K
An Army jawan who has been missing for the past few days is suspected to have joined a terrorist group in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources say the man, Mir Idrees Sultan, has joined the Hizbul Mujahideen. A resident of Safnag in Shopian, Sultan was a part of the Army’s 12 JAKLI (Jammu and Kashmir Light Infrantry), and stationed in Bihar.
He reportedly came home recently, and has been missing from April 15. His family says his phone hasn’t been reachable since then.
A picture showing him holding an AK-47 rifle has gone viral.
The police say they are verifying reports. “We have received reports but we are verifying the picture and the entire matter,” a top police officer said. A case has been registered.
If the reports are confirmed, Sultan will join a long list of youngsters who’ve gone missing in areas of south Kashmir to join terrorist groups.
